Melissa has 31 years of experience as a practicing attorney. In 1998, she joined Hallett & Perrin as an Associate in our corporate and securities section, with a concentration in real estate and lending transactions. Melissa was named Partner In 2005.
In June of 2011, Melissa set out on a new path and served multiple roles as Asset Manager, Chief Operating Officer, and Executive Vice President for a local land development and holdings company until coming back to Hallett & Perrin in February, 2019
During her legal career, Melissa has represented both publicly and privately owned business entities, including public and private finance, mergers & acquisitions, general contracting and commercial real estate transactions. Her practice focuses on representation of borrowers and lenders in private and commercial lending transactions, and real estate syndicators and financiers in connection with real estate-based and asset-based lending, documentation of loans, intercreditor relationships, and senior and mezzanine financing collateralized by assets and real estate. She has also presented businesses in various aspects of securities laws, with an emphasis on federal securities reporting and compliance. Melissa is also experienced in corporate reorganizations, mergers, asset acquisitions and sales, various shareholder, partnership and joint venture agreements, sales and purchases of equity and debt interests, and representation of issuers in connection with private placements of equity and secondary public offerings of debt and equity.
